One Final Achievement

Looks like I have one final achievement for 2019.

10,000 photographers are going to descend on Nashville in a few weeks for the 2020 Imagine Conference hosted by the Professional Photographers of America.

International competition occurred this summer, and the images that merited will be displayed as part of the National Exhibit.

Each year PPA publishes a Showcase book that highlight a small percentage of all the images that merited. The images represent a cross section of excellence in photography and within the industry.

And yes, one of mine was selected. This image has had a great year by scoring high in competitions, being meriting at International Competition and being selected for the Showcase book. I should add that it also took the trophy for best industrial at State Competition through the Professional Photographers of Washington.

And yeah, I'm feeling a bit proud on this one.

A photography of Washington Water Power's downtown station along side the Spokane River. The photograph was taken at night.

Specific design elements that helped this image was color contrast defining the major shapes, the mix of warm and cool tones, and that the mix of colors were predominantly complimentary colors in nature. The long exposure of the water adds a sense of time and movement, and of course, the rule of thirds helps break and arrange the image to a pleasant composition.

Our group is already planning meetings in January to fire up and get an early start on next years competition. I have a significant industry achievement that is in range, so doing my best to get a couple more merited images is at the top of my list for 2020.
